The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of practical, cultural and adventurous outdoor activities. It offers a challenge, and encourages young people to undertake exciting and constructive outdoor activities. In line with the high level of support you can expect to receive from Outdoor Active and the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, we have created this resource. What we do and what you can expect

Our Duke of Edinburgh Award Expeditions’ are specifically designed to meet the requirements as set out in the Duke of Edinburgh Award. We have courses designed for the Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award Expeditions’.

The main objectives of the Expedition section of the D of E are; to develop young people physically, mentally, and socially. Specifically, on the Duke of Edinburgh Award Expedition participants will learn good practice in;

  • Navigation
  • Environmental responsibility
  • How to administer first aid and emergency procedures
  • Awareness of risk and health and safety issue
  • Develop proficiency in a mode(s) of transport
